Amateur Radio

For the most part I use handheld VHF/UHF radio equipment for paragliding and the airband for flying.  I was first licensed as a Technician class operator when I was around 15 years old in 1994, and upgraded to Amateur Extra in 2004 when the code requirement was dropped.

A few years back I started getting into QRP, and I've been working on CW a bit.  I've built my own 40 meter QRP CW transceiver, along with a couple of other small kits.  On the rare occasion I do play around in the HF bands I tend to stick to 40 and 20 meters CW mode.  Lately I'm interested in APRS and digital modes, but CW is pulling me back in.
